North Cyprus’ leisure and tourism activities
As a visitor or a resident in North Cyprus, there are several activities to pass the time. Of course, you can spend your days idling, lounging by the pool or on one of the island’s gorgeous beaches, taking a dip, and sipping a drink. However, you can fill your time with activities such as water sports, riding or hiking, Jeep safaris, and so on.
Not to mention the stunning scenery and numerous sights and sites to be found here. Those who do not wish to pursue such leisure activities or sightseeing trips on their own might rely on one of North Cyprus’ many tourism firms.
North Cyprus has some of the best walking and bike paths in the world for active visitors. The freshly opened Besparmak Trail from western Cape Korucam to eastern Cape Andreas is a must-see for trekkers. In 18 days, the trail travels 260 kilometers via the Five Finger Mountains. From the Maronite settlement of Kormacit (Korucam), via the spectacular castles of Saint Hilarion, Buffavento, and Kantara, the splendid church of the Antiphonitis Monastery, and the villages and lonely landscapes of the Karpaz peninsula, the road is rich in distinct feelings.
There are either challenging or pleasant dirt trails for bicyclists, as well as little village roads with practically no traffic. You may also ride your bike from west to east on these tracks, much like you can on the Besparmak Trail.
The best time to visit is in the spring when the island is lush green and the pathways are lined with millions of rock roses and more than 30 different types of wild orchids.
